Westboro Baptist Schedules Protests for Woodbridge Area

Wednesday, Nov. 10 — If you’ve seen the news reports on Westboro Baptist Church, you probably have a strong opinion of them. They’re the group that has gained notoriety for protesting at the funerals of men and women killed while in service to our country. They also stage protests against the gay community. They’ve decided to bring their protests to Woodbridge Senior High School and the Coast Guard Recruiting Office in Woodbridge, site of a recent shooting, on Nov. 15, according to published reports and confirmed in the “pickets” section of their own website and by Prince William County Police.

WoodbridgeLiving.com thought it was important for area residents to understand the exact nature of the protests the church has planned for our area. The following is quoted verbatim from the church’s website regarding the demonstration planned for Woodbridge Senior High School:

Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, VA November 15, 2010 7:00 AM – 7:30 AM
“WBC to picket the students, parents and teachers at Woodbridge High School who live in rebellion against their creator every minute. Parents and teachers have taught the students from every day from birth, with everything that they do and say, that God is a liar and that His commandments are to be treated as suggestions, if that! That did that because they hate these children and are trying to justify their own sins by teaching the children to sin more and worse than they. How selfish are you?! Your duty is this: And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Dt. 6:6-7.) You have failed in your duty and God will require you to give an accounting for it. There is hope, however, because God has sent His servants to your town today to tell you the truth — to warn you to flee the wrath and destruction that is coming on this nation! The children are entitled to hear the truth one time in their lives. God does NOT love everyone and it is NOT OKAY to be gay. If you give a care for your never dying soul, you will come out from among this people and OBEY TODAY! Amen!”

The following also is quoted verbatim from their website regarding their demonstration at the Coast Guard Recruiting Office:

Coast Guard Recruiting Office in Woodbridge, VA November 15, 2010 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM
“WBC will picket the Coast Guard Recruiting Office where they encourage young men and women to fight for a nation who has made God her #1 Enemy! This once-great nation is headed for imminent destruction because of its proud rebellion and monstrous sins against God. When you put on the Coast Guard uniform, you are placing a target on your back — just begging God to kill you. The coasts you’ll be guarding are leaking sieves and you’ll never win another war. Despite years of daily warnings from WBC, this nation and her military were turned over to the fags; now, the soldiers and sailors are coming home in body bags. You are not fighting for any righteous cause; you are fighting for the fags’ right to each each other’s feces and the whore’s right to murder her unborn baby! God no longer keeps america and is, instead, fighting against you. And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. (Jer. 21:5.) You think your safe on water? Just remember, you aint safe from God! RUN from the recruiting office!! Repent and Obey God TODAY!”

Again, these preceding paragraphs in italics are quoted exactly as written on the WBC website.

This group also is scheduled to be in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, picketing at Arlington National Cemetery and The George Washington University; they also have demonstrations planned at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Md., on Nov. 13. Two days later, they are scheduled to be at New Life Wesleyan Church in La Plata, Md., to protest at the funeral of Lance Cpl. Terry E. Honeycutt Jr., of Waldorf, Md. Lance Cpl. Honeycutt died Oct. 27 from wounds received Oct. 21 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was 19 years old. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

  1. They do argue passionately for the 1st Amendment, don’t they?

Perhaps it’s time they see the direct result of the freedoms permitted in the 2nd?
