Woodbridge Remains Undefeated (19-0) in Boys Varsity Baseball

Woodbridge pitcher Nick Rogowski

Woodbridge pitcher Nick Rogowski had masterful control of his pitches -- he posted 12 strikeouts in a full game of pitching in earning the win. Rogowski has a 6-0 pitching record on the year.

May 14, 2010 — Despite an early 1-run lead by Gar-Field, which it held onto for almost an hour due to a severe weather delay as lightning drifted through Woodbridge in the early evening, the Vikings came back strong with a 4-run sixth inning to take a firm lead for the remainder of the game. Gar-Field lost their last home game of the season to the Vikings, 7-1. The win will no doubt keep the undefeated Woodbridge Vikings baseball team in the No. 1 spot in the VirginiaPreps.com state rankings.

In their game earlier this week, as well as tonight, the Vikings (19-0) wore customized camouflage jerseys and caps in honor of the heavy military presence in the area, spurning traditional baseball superstitions. Teams unbeaten this late in the season might think it unlucky to make a change in uniforms like that, but Woodbridge tempted fate and overcame any superstition.

The Viking’s final game of the regular season is at 6pm Tuesday, May 18 at home against 16-3 Osborne Park.
