Virginia’s State Bird – The Cardinal

We’ve been visited quite often by our Virginia state bird, the cardinal, which comes to feed on seed we have on the corner of our back deck. With today, March 21, being the first full day of spring, and now that the weather has turned so beautifully sunny and warm, we thought it appropriate to share a photo of our frequent visitor photographed this morning on a mission to find food.

Here’s a did you know … Did you know that the cardinal is the official state bird in six other states as well? They are: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia.
