Carrabba’s Italian Grill

Carrabba's Italian GrillRESTAURANT REVIEW — We must admit that we carry a bit of a bias against chain restaurants. As we’ve mentioned on this site before, we like to search out one-of-a-kind establishments in our area for a unique experience. However, Carrabba’s has changed my mind.

We were very impressed not only with the food and extensive wine list of this national restaurant chain, but also with how welcome you feel as soon as you walk in the door. It truly is a warm, inviting neighborhood restaurant with a unique taste on favorite Italian dishes.

Even when it is busy, and it almost always is, the staff never makes you feel rushed. It is a “dinner” restaurant so they uniquely understand why people go out to dinner — to have good food, a welcoming atmosphere and a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the overall experience. Food Arts magazine, a restaurant industry publication did a poll recently asking customers what is the most important factor in choosing a restaurant and overwhelmingly they said it was feeling welcome at the door.

We’re told that the most popular dishes are the chicken Marsala and their wood burning oven pizzas. We have tried them both and they are fantastic. Our favorite, however, is their Pollo Rosa Maria, a chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto and fontina cheese topped with mushrooms and lemon butter sauce –YUMMY.

Carrabba’s also is very involved in community outreach. They have done fundraisers for Relay for Life and have helped build the playgrounds for the grade schools — Thurgood Marshall, Old Bridge and Springwoods.

Carrabba’s has daily specials, a wine list of 41 wines — 36 of them by the glass — and a full-service bar.

If you haven’t already, give Carrabba’s a try, it’s worth the trip. When you get there, tell their new proprietor Lance Smith that Woodbridge Living sent you.
